Sigrid Undset- A Portrait

Sigrid Undset, one of Norway's most illustrious writers, achieved universal acclaim for her great writings. In 1928 she received the Nobel Prize for literature for her epic masterpieces KRISTIN LAVRANSDATTER and OLAV AUDUNSSON. She began her great trilogy from the Middle Ages, KRISTIN LAVRANSDATTER, in 1920; it tells a vivid story of love and religion in 14th-century Norway. <br><br> Sigrid Undsets writing reflected many of her own thoughts and experiences. One of her greatest achievements was to bring the people of the Middle Ages to life. This was because she realized the fundamental fact that human beings themselves always remain the same whatever their historical context.
