Revolution of 1688, The

This has been called the "Glorious Revolution." Dr. R. Clifton offers a lively perspective on the amibtions of William of Orange, his fear of Louis XIV, and the residual upper-middle class English apprehensions concerning a restoration of Catholicism.  The relationship of James II to the English gentry is explored.  James had a large army yet ultimately gave up his throne for a life in exile.
